Muarena Helena
Born from a common love of organ drum beats and thrift store synths, Muarena Helena's polyphonic sound is made up of eerie melodies hovering over warm gossamer pianos and loose-fitted shaky guitars, and underpinned by a rhythm section that walks in and out like a drunk flatmate.
Their music takes pictures of favourite moments in pop, stoner and shoegaze rock, chamber music, esoteric electronica, seventies prog and country, but never all at once. They write songs that segue and segue again, with a view to creating an atmosphere and not just an a-side. Or a b-side. Their fourth album 'Fierce Pale Hen' sees them ploughing a slightly heavier furrow here, and getting more feathery there.
Special Guests:
Amy – saxophone, melodica and recorder
Helen – 'cello
